Incident Report - December 25, 1967 - Welland

 

435pm date Welland Transfer unit 7438 Engineer Sloan Conductor Noonan 1 load 1 empty enroute Montrose to Welland struck and broke lense in left headlight of 1956 Chrysler automobile which was standing at crossing waiting for train to pass. Southworth street crossing east of WX, Welland, mileage NF 13.44. The vehicle owned and driven by Joseph St.George, 21 Sauer Avenue, Welland was proceeding south, crossing protection signals operating, and the driver stopped but did not realize his auto was as close as it was. Crossing protected by automatic signals, visible and audible wig-wags and bells. Headlight on diesel burning bright and bell ringing. No personal injury. Welland City Police witnessed the incident and informed Conductor Noonan no charge would be laid and that they were making no further report.
